How to Measure for Screens or Shutters

Window Screen 150x75mm frame

Screen must be a minimum of 1700mm above FFL (Finished Floor Level) and must continue down below the window sill to ensure no line of sight underneath the screen. We recommend 150mm minimum.

  1. Measure the height of the window sill from the floor.
  2. Subtract this measurement from 1700mm and add 150mm. This will be the minimum height of the screen.
  3. Measure the window reveal from inside edge to inside edge. To do this, simply open the window and measure the inside opening.
  4. To calculate the screen width we need to add 170mm to allow for the 75mm returns of the side frame and the 10mm gaps between the window frame and studwork.

Window Screen 60mm flat bar frame

Screen must be a minimum of 1700mm above FFL (Finished Floor Level).

  1. Measure the height of the window sill from the floor.
  2. Subtract this measurement from 1700mm. This will be the minimum height of the screen.
  3. Measure the window reveal from inside edge to inside edge. To do this, simply open the window and measure the inside opening.
  4. To calculate the screen width, we need to allow for any variation in the reveal and some clearance to slip the screen in. Typically this is 2mm to 3mm per side.
